Creative Control Fest

Events

Description

As co-founder of Creative Control Fest, we wanted to create a multi-day creative confest (Conference+Festival) that centers creatives of color who are a part of the growing creative class. Born from a need to see more Black Creatives and Creatives of Color represented in creative industries CCF aims for the mutual exchange of resources with people of color in the sectors of art, music, design, activism, tech, scholarship, and entrepreneurship.

What to expect

The conference starts with workshops centered on artist development and taking an idea from concept to production. The workshops are then followed by a speakers’ series featuring creative professionals and industry leaders and innovators in design, fashion, and other creative fields. CCF will also feature an art show, performances, and vendors in concert with the speakers’ series, culminating in a Celebration Concert featuring up and coming musicians. It is art, design, innovation, entrepreneurship, education, and more. This event is where creative professionals, entrepreneurs, artists, students, marketers, ad/marketing/pr professionals and fans will gather to learn, get inspired, collaborate, network, and celebrate together.

Past speakers have included Young Guru & Gerald Cooper (Era of the Engineer), Eunique Jones-Gibson (Because of them We Can), Advertising Legend Tom Burrell, Piper Kerman (Author of Orange is the New Black), and more. Past attendees have gained connections, job referrals, and more but most importantly a sense of belonging to the emerging creative class.

Reception

Going into our 8th year, our award-winning fest experience is broadened by continued collaboration with local businesses, colleges, and arts institutions to develop more memorable experiences for our attendees.
